Description
Originally written 2018, revised in 2021. The pairing of text and music is inspired by 'Morning Sun' (page 436 in The Sacred Harp, 1991). The ending is in imitation of 'Morgan' (page 304).
This was composed for one of the Cambridge singers, Richard Montgomery, whose flat we used to use as a singing venue.
Text
Our bodies soon must die,
Their beauties pass away,
And mould'ring in the tomb, must lie
Until the judgement day.
Corruption earth and worms
Shall but refine our flesh,
Until its kindred spirit comes
To put it on afresh.
