Description
I composed "Waddell Street" on April 25, 2014, just after returning to Atlanta from recording an oral history with Hugh McGraw at his home on Waddell Street in Bremen, Georgia. "Waddell Street" was included in vol. 4, no. 2 of The Trumpet.
Text
O land of rest for thee I sigh:
When will the moment come
When I shall lay my armor by,
And dwell in peace at home?
No tranquil joys on earth I know,
No peaceful, shelt'ring dome;
This world's a wilderness of woe,
This world is not my home.
