Camp Fasola Composium (Youth Session), 2009
Recorded July 2 at Camp Fasola by Jonathon Smith. Sung by a group of 25-30 singers at a composium led by me – the conclusion of a 3-day track of lessons on composition in the style of the Sacred Harp.
Description
Written during the youth session of Camp Fasola 2009 and sung the next day at the Sacred Harp Composium I directed. Inspired by the several campers who had been working on new tunes during camp. Named for Choccolocco Road, in Anniston, where Camp Fasola is held.
Text
I am a stranger here below,
And what I am is hard to know,
I am so vile, so prone to sin,
I fear that I’m not born again.
I find myself out of the way,
My thoughts are often gone astray,
Like one alone I seem to be,
Oh, is there anyone like me?
