Description

Named for the Candler Park neighborhood of Atlanta, GA, this tune was first sung at the home of Jesse Pearlman Karlsberg and Lauren Bock in October, 2010, along with its companion piece, Edgewood. (Jesse and Lauren reside near the border between the Edgewood and Candler Park neighborhoods.) It has been sung at the 2011 Camp Fasola Youth and Adult Session Composiums; the June, 2012 and June, 2014 Shenandoah Harmony singings in Virginia; and the November, 2011 singing from The Trumpet, in Lowell, MA. It was also sung by The Art Mob in their Winter, 2010 concerts. Candler Park appears in The Trumpet, Vol. 1, No. 2 (2011), and on p. 372 of Shenandoah Harmony (2013).

Text

Ye boundless realms of joy,
Exalt your Maker's fame,
His praise your songs employ
Above the starry frame;
Ye cherubim
And seraphim,
Your voices raise,
To sing his praise.

Thou moon, that rul'st the night,
And sun, that guid'st the day,
Ye glitt’ring stars of light,
To him your homage pay.
Ye heavens above
And clouds that move
His praise declare,
In liquid air.
