Edwards (Aldo, Jordan, Sarah, Cory; Sept. 1 2014)
Description
Written in memory of William Stanford "Stanly" Edwards (1960-2014) of Newell, Alabama and Jacksonville, Oregon. A champion of the Cleburne County and Chattahoochee Conventions, as well as other Northeast Alabama and West Georgia singings, every inch of Stanly's imposing frame brimmed with warmth and kindness for singers wherever he met them. He was particularly welcoming to the little band of New Yorkers and Baltimoreans (including myself) that first attended the Chattahoochee around 2005-2007. He will be sorely missed by singers and friends around the globe.
This tune was performed by The Art Mob in their Winter, 2014 concerts.
Text
When shall we all meet again—
Meet ne'er to sever?
When will peace unwreath her chain
Round us forever?
Our hearts will ne'er repose,
Safe from each blast that blows,
In this dark vale of woes—
Never, no, never!
When shall that love freely flow,
Pure as life's river?
When shall our sweet friendship glow,
Changeless forever?
Where joys celestial thrill,
Where bliss each heart shall fill,
And fears of parting chill—
Never, no, never!
Up to that great world of light,
Take us, dear Savior;
May we there in joy unite,
Happy forever;
Where kindred spirits dwell,
There may our music swell,
And time our joys dispel—
Never, no, never!
Soon shall we all meet again—
Meet ne'er to sever;
Soon will peace unwreath her chain
Round us forever;
Our hearts will then repose,
Secure from worldly woes;
Our songs of praise shall close—
Never, no, never!
