Description
Written in Jarosław, Poland, during my visit assisting Tim Eriksen during a weeklong singing school in the summer of 2008. This song is named for Błazej Matsuiak, a Dominican monk and leader of the Sacred Harp singing in Warsaw, Poland.
Błazej was sung at the composium at the 2008 New York City singing and at a weekly singing in Northampton following the Western Massachusetts Convention when Błazej Matsuiak was visiting from Poland.
Text
My Maker and my King,
To Thee my all I owe;
Thy sovereign bounty is the spring
Whence all my blessings flow;
Lord, what can I impart
When all is Thine before?
Thy love demands a thankful heart;
The gift, alas! how poor.
O! let Thy grace inspire
My soul with strength divine;
Let every word and each desire
And all my days be Thine.
