Description

I wrote "Wilscot" on the last day of a two-week artist's residency at the Sustainable Arts Society in Blue Ridge, Georgia, in April of 2008. The song was first sung at the social at the home of George and Jean Seiler following the 2008 New York Regional singing in Albany. The song was also sung in 2008 and 2009 at Camp Fasola, and at a 2009 new compositions singing at the All California Convention. "Wilscot" is included in The Shenandoah Harmony (2013).

Text

Blest are the sons of peace,
Whose hearts and hopes are one,
Whose kind designs to serve and please
Through all their actions run.

Chorus:
Thus on the heav'nly hills
The saints are bless'd above,
Where joy, like morning dew, distils,
And all the air is love.

Blest is the pious house
Where zeal and friendship meet;
Their songs of praise, their mingled vows,
Make their communion sweet.

Chorus.
