Prayer of Faith S.M.

Written in Troy, NY in the late summer of 2007. My second attempt to write a setting for a text Nathan Rees had picked out for me in response to a request for texts for an earlier song.

Sung at the 2007 and 2008 Berkshire Foothills Composiums.

Hungry, and faint, and poor
Behold us, Lord, again
Assembled at thy mercy's door,
Thy bounty to obtain.

Chorus:
The food our spirits want,
Thy hand alone can give;
O hear the prayer of faith and grant
That we may eat and live.

Thy word invites us nigh,
Or we must starve indeed;
For we no money have to buy,
No righteousness to plead.
